I've been such a fool....allowing myself to be so vulnerable.

I've been such a fool....allowing myself to be twiddled around

I've been such a fool....to not have heeded the signs....

I've been such a fool....to not have walked away when i should have.

I've been such a fool....to even have thoughts of it in the first place.

I've been such a fool....all these while..

Disappointments...in life....in studies...in career.

All seem to endlessly pelt me down like a never-ending

cycle.

One after another, i'm faced with major disappointments....still smarting

from my wounds, i'm hit by another one.....without any time for reprieve,

I'm pelted down endlessly again.

*

Told my dad that for the next two years, my life is going to be a struggle.

I will literally have to fight everyday. I can already sense myself

hardly even resting enough before i ready myself for my next struggle.

*

Oh well....my life is a major screw up.

Bah.

*

Btw, i read from an article that Eye 10 is supposed to be a

Black Comedy.

Sheesh.

It gave it 1/5 stars.

I give it 0.5/5

The Eye 10 sucks,

please people, dun watch it.

It is a total waste of money and time.

I could not discern whether was it supposed to be a comedy or a horror movie.

Its really really really dumb.

Save yourself and your $8.50

Its really not worth watching.

Sigh...realised that i've been a very bad friend.....

.:Thursday, March 24, 2005:.

First book out from SISPEC.

Firstly, SISPEC trainning is kinda tough.

By the second day (Tues) , we were already chionging the SOC...

Wednesday, running 4 Km...

Thursday...running 5 km.

Everyday we're expected to pull at least 20 plus pull ups.

It will just keep progressing and progressing, so far

i've been able to keep up with the training, especially the physical side of

it, but i do not know how long it will last.

I'm just chionging each day as it comes.

*

Platoon mates are rather fine, the whole platoon is still kinda quiet...

a few of my Scorpion friends have already OOC out of SISPEC.

One by one, people are dropping out like flies.

The whole mood in SISPEC, especially for the first 2 days was rather

hmmm..lifeless. You can tell nobody wants to be in SISPEC.

But i believe, as long as i'm in SISPEC, i will still strive very hard and do my best

to achieve my goal.

*

I feel that the whole Spec Corps are under-rated.

Officers are given unneccessary respect.....whereas, Specs who are more capable in everyway...

are marginalised in a organisation that values face-value rather than skills.

I don't know..i feel the whole Spec-Officer thing is unfair.

It is always the officers that gain the priviledges.

*

I'm not two-stepping or having double-standards

But for me, being an Officer is a childhood thing. Yes, i do like the scope of a Spec

but planning and executing battle tactics, formations, exercises and the likes

is what that appeals to me.

*

Oh well, been a very tiring day.

As said before, we had to complete a 5Km run in 30 mins (before booking out).

5Km i tell you, is no joke. Try it for yourself one day.

By the time i pass out from BSLC, we're expected to accomplish

up till 16Km Run.

*

Go figure

BTW, i'm an M203 Gunner...a Grenadier.

Oh well, all my bags are packed and i'm ready to rumble.

Its kinda nostalgic thinking back 3 months ago when i had to pack

my bags for a challenge that i had to undertake. My goal then?

Do well in BMT and get to go OCS.

Which i can safely and confidently say that i did.

I did my best, i pushed myself and surpassed my goals and aims.

But the latter was a dissappointment. It eluded me. It got snatched out

of my grasp just as i was about to cross the finishing line.

*

Now 3 months on, i've yet again packed my bags

for another challenge.. A bigger one this time, an even more daunting one now.

But this time i will stubbornly hold on to it and

never let it go till the cross the finishing line.

*

Its now not a matter of "I hope i can get to go OCS", as of today,

21st March 2005.

The agenda has shifted, it is now an ultimatum for me,

the focus shall lie solely on one outcome.

OCS do or die....no two ways about it.

I must achieve, i will achieve. I will not fail again.

*

To a special friemd of mine whom i treasure alot

Thank you for being there for me and encouraging me when i was down.

I will miss you but rest assured that i will not stop missing you.

You will always be my inspiration, my hope, my happy angel, my _ _ _ _.

*

To my friends going to SAFTIMI this morning, happy for you all.

Hope to be chionging the "Stairway to Heaven" with you all come June.

See you in OCS

Watched SPONGEBOB SQUARE PANTS just now....

alone as usual..haha, it was hilarious.

Absolutely worth the $8.50 i paid for. Again, some parts of the movie

reminded me of my troubles...not exactly troubles, but rather..

obstacles in my path.

*

Been receiving very encouraging comments on my chatbox.

Thanks alot...to whoever u are, posting them. =)

Oh well, 2 months of hardwork begins tomorrow.

I will surely do my best and remain as committed to my cause as much as possible.

I will not lose focus and at the end of it, i do hope to be able to

blog a happy post telling u guys that i've managed to cross-over.

It will be hard, no doubt...it will be trying.....

i will lose faith, i might even lose focus, but...my parents, brother...

and friends...all have faith in me, so why should i have none in myself?

*

True,

i seek the glory, i seek the achievement and i seek the right to brag about the fact

that i earned my spot in OCS through sheer pain and dedication.

But i also seek the right to make my parents proud.

Papa, mummy, kor kor.

I will not let you all down.

Papa, i will do my best to make you proud, i will not give up and i will

make sure i'll fullfill your aspirations for me.

Mummy, thank you for always being there for me, you were the first to comfort me

when i knew my posting. U dried my heart-tears and gave me the

initial will to push on for what i want, i will make you proud.

Kor kor, i will make sure u won't be the only one in the Phua household

to wear Apulets.....i will wear them alongside you.

=)

*

To everyone, my battle begins tomorrow.

My battle against self-belief, self-confidence and my own physical limits.

But i will try to overcoem them.

To those who have failed in their goals,

Dun lose hope, no matter how dire it is.

The light at the end of the tunnel will always be the brightest.
*

With Pride we lead.

ONWARD CHARGE!!!

This is a very nice song that is playing on my blog now.

Somehow, i cannot get sick of this song...for some reason.

The lyrics are nice, really explains the "hollow" feeling of unrequited love.

Oh well.yea, we all have our unrequited loves yea....so do i..haha.

Oh well, no time to think about that now.

Enjoy the song....i chose it specially for my blog and for all u readers..

though i realise my blog is mainly fluff. Bah.

Micheal Buble - HOME

Another summer day
has come and gone away
In Paris or Rome...
but I wanna go home
...uhm Home
may be surrounded by
a million people I
still feel all alone
just wanna go home
I miss you, you know

And I've been keeping all the letters
that I wrote to you,
Each one a line or two
I'm fine baby, how are you?
I would send them but I know that it's just not enough
My words were cold and flat
And you deserve more than that

Another aeroplane, another sunny place,
I'm lucky I know
but I wanna go home
I got to go home

Let me go home

I'm just too far from where you are
I wanna come home

And I feel just like I'm living
someone else's life
It's like I just stepped outside
when everything was going right
And I know just why you could not come along with me
This was not your dream

but you always believed in me...

Another winter day
Has come and gone away
in either Paris or Rome
and I wanna go home
Let me go home

And I'm surrounded by
A million people I
still feel alone
Let me go home
I miss you , you know

Let me go home
I've had my run
baby I'm done
I gotta go home

Let me go home
it'll all be alright
I'll be home tonight
I'm coming back home"

*

Hmm, tomorrow booking in to SISPEC while friends of mine are going OCS, kinda

sad feeling, it really makes me feel down not being able to fullfill my dad's

aspirations for me, and my own.

All this time,

i've been looking forward to entering OCS...do my best and pass out as a

Good officer....looks like the chances of that happening now is very slim.

But i will still try my best either way.

I did not enter SISPEC by choice, i entered by sheer circumstances.

But i will enter OCS by choice, i will fight for my spot.

Just came back from a movie....

watched Robots alone to give myself some cheer.....

*

Hmm...no comments on the movie, perhaps it was my mood lah...

thought it was kinda bland..sure no doubt there were funny twists,

creativity aplenty....but something...felt...missing (guess who?)

*

The show is inspirational to say the least.....i can really relate to the

part whereby the father Robot said to the son...

"There is never anything that you do that will let me down..."

Got me thinking about my parents, my dad especially.......about how i've

disappointed him in failing to go OCS. I know he feels disappointed, but well,

got played out by the Army Bureaucracy....nothing much that i can do...

except accept what has been given to me, and make the best out of it.

Hey, who knows, i might still get to go OCS afterall.

*

The movie also had lots of inspirational moments as well....the moniker of the

whole show is literally this line

"You can still shine, no matter what you're made of"

This will be my motto for SISPEC. I know i have the abilities, the knowledge

to go OCS, but as would luck have it...it eluded me.

I will keep chasing my dream and never let go of it until i grab it by the neck

and squeeze out every ounce of opprtunities that i can gain from it.

*

A case of solemn comfort?

Perhaps.

A case of Sour Grapes?

Maybe.

A Case of submission to my fate?

Definitely not

*

Though the chances of me becoming a Sergeant rather than an Officer is much higher

now that i am in SISPEC, even if i do become a Sergeant.

I will prove my worth in Unit. I will be the best Sergeant a Sergeant can be.

I will take care of my men, while at the same time, bring out the best in them.

I will give my every ounce of energy to serving my men....and my Country.

*

I do feel a heavy sense of anger that some people i know who do not deserve to be

in OCS are selected for it, i'm like "WTH?!?! Is the Bureaucratic system

THAT screwed up???"

It does not bode well for the self-esteem when a person deserving of a spot

is denied it because some asshole wayanged his way into it.

I know my spot was taken from me by someone else, that someone better be worthy

of it. If not i'll be damn pissed.

*

Enough said. I think i will need to see what SISPEC is all about to know

if i will be able to like it there.

Monday book in.

SISPEC here i come.

.:Friday, March 18, 2005:.

Finally, my monkey hair is gone.

I've gotten myself a 3-2-1 haircut.

A typical haircut for trainees in SISPEC or OCS. =)

Hmm....am feeling better about the prospects of going to SISPEC rather than

OCS.

Did some thinking and thought that perhaps, yea, SISPEC might just be the place

i might enjoy going to.

Realised that i wanted to go OCS, mainly because of my parent's expectations

and for the prestige and all..the future prospects.

But hey, i know myself to be a hands on leader, perhaps thats why i'm at SISPEC,

SISPEC leaders are hands on people, they go right down to

interacting with the men.

OCS leaders are more of planners, conceptualists,

something which i think i fit the bill for as well.

But oh well, we'll see how after BSLC.

I have a feeling i will enjoy the brotherhood in SISPEC.

But that does not mean that that i've lost hope, neither is it a

submission to my fate.

I've not, in fact i'm more inspired to gun for OCS after BSLC, not because of

pride, but because i want to show to the OCTs what SISPEC trainees are made of.

*

Though i must admit i'm scared of not being able to cross-over,

i will no doubt try my utmost best and even if i do not make it for the cross-over,

i will forever be proud of the 3 Chevrons i wear upon my sleeves.

Specs are afterall, the backbone of the Singapore Armed Forces.

We pride we lead.

Another bag full of salt to rub into my wounds.

Just as i was smarting from the shock.

My platoon Sergeant said i didn't make it to OCS was cause

i didn't complete my BMT in time.

Thats cos i missed my live range (cause of sickness) and could only complete

it after POP (whihc as a matter of fact, with a Marksman title).

So by implication, i had every opportunity to enter OCS.

BUT, the Bureaucracy that runs in the blood of SAF prevented me from

doing so, cause since my scores cannot be submitted earlier,

by sheer circumstances, my spot was taken over by someone else.

Now, that isn't my fault is it?

Well, Shit happens.

*

Thats life, so i gotta deal with it.

Life moves on....the sun still rises, the heart still beats and the blood

still flows, so whats there to stop me from achieving my best in

SISPEC?

Hey, if i can get so close to clinching Platoon Best in

BMT (and thats because of my abilities, fitness killed me), nothing is

gonna stop me from that coveted

Golden Bayonet in SISPEC.

*

I was asking my Platoon Sergeant, 2Sgt. Suhaimi about the

chances of a cross-over from SISPEC to OCS.

and my Platoon Sergeant replied to my message as such.

Plt. Sgt. : "Well it depends, if you still have the 'fire' to still wanna

crossover. They will look upon your battle, knowledge, leadership,

your ability to push your fellow mates during tough times. And fitness.

Which i feel you have most of it already. Just do your best."

Hmm, i've gotten over the shock of not getting into OCS.

I know where my abilities stand and i'm confident that i am OCS material

Just that certain factors like my fitness pulled me down.

Either way, SISPEC is still a command school and i'm looking

forward to becoming an inspirational leader for my men, be it as an Officer

or Specialist. I will still serve my Army and country with the kind of dedication

i have in me.

*

They say SISPEC is tougher than OCS, alot of outfield, practical trainning,

skills etc. So i guess it is a blessing in disguise.

There is still a chance for me to crossover however, after 2 and a half months.

Prior to that i will make sure i get my fitness done correctly.

I will train hard and test my limits again.

SISPEC will be tough, but that does not mean that i will not be able

to accomplish it. I've read stories of people who go SISPEC first

but eventually still crossover to OCS, and they do better there.

My brother is a testimony. He himself is from OCS, but he did say

that when the SISPEC people cross-over, they're knowledge is more indepth,

better than most OCTs.

*ONE SUCH EXAMPLE*

This guy here is my ultimate inspiration. I will strive to be like him.

*

I do not want to be seen as being mediocre. THough i did have that impression

once that SISPEC warriors are mediocre, i do believe i've been placed

here for a reason.

I know i will come out of SISPEC a better person, a stronger Alan.

Then i will rule OCS (If i can get to cross-over).

The happy thing is that most of my bunkmates are going SISPEC as well.

So i'll still get to see them.

*

I hope people won;t feel sad for me or sympathise with me because i do not

get what i want. Because in the first place, i don't beat myself down.

There is still a chance for me to achieve my goal, perhaps this posting is

merely a Baptism of fire for my resolution.

As i said before, either way i will still do my best, whether is it OCS, or SISPEC.

*

To my bro, Lokender, really happy for you that you got into OCS and

am sorry if i cannot join you there. But well, perhaps its my fitness that

pulled me down, but rest assured, that when i pass out from BSLC,

you will see me at SAFTI. Lol.

I will do my very very best for everyone who had high hopes for me.

Sorry i let all of you down, especially my parents.

But as i said, don't feel sad for me, but rather, be happy for me

because i know, when i come out from it, i will be a better person.

Had a great day yesterday....Sun, beach, sand....

Met Ian, Eugene and Shu Qi at Harborfront in the morning

then we went on to go Sentosa. The rest were supposed to meet us as well,

about 6 in all, but they all pulled out last minute. So it was only the 4

of us.....

Which wasn't that bad lah honestly.

*

Some dudes from Section 2 were supposed to join us as well, but....

yea....they left us high and dry.

But Fariq and marcus did decide to some anyway, but only at 3.30pm

did they actually arrive. So from 11 till 1530, the 4 of us

were literally rotting on the beach front. Yea, we did a lil swimming,

did a lil tanning, ogle at the bikini clad girls...hehehehehe

but the point is that it was a very very relaxing few hours,

though it got a tad too boring at times.

*

Beside my hut there was this girl, kinda cute, kinda good looking.

When i told my fellow dudes what i thought of the girl, it proved to be

the biggest mistake of the day ( well, not really lah )

You see, they becane so bent on getting me to know her, so much so that

whenever i played my rugby, they will shout,

"ALAN! The guy with the cap, likes the girl in BLLLLLAACCCKKKK!!!"

(she wore a black running singlet with black shorts)

(-_-)" I mean, i was like WTH?!?!?! Then as usual, i'm so paiseh to the point

of no return that i kept fumbling with my ball, whenever

i wanted to kick, they will shout out that few lines and i will

kick off in a different direction.

*

But yea, shes a nice girl i think, got her number and her name. hahahahaha

Might as well right? Don't wish to live my life in regret.

Hahahaha. But i doubt i will pursue it, cause i think shes attached....and...yah

not that nice since i've burnt myself before. =)

So yeap, just another entry into me phone! Hahaha

*

After that met me special friend GAYEONG for dinner.

Shes funny, i wanted to treat her Sakae Sushi, but she insisted on

eating Chicken Rice at the hawker center. Hahahaha....

AFter eating, we took a short walk, a "field trip" as what she puts it,

around the whole Woodbridge Hospital complex.

It was fun....and special, since we've not been in real contact

for nearly 3 years. Now that we're both all grown up and no longer teens...

Its really nice to have such a wonderful friendship. =)

Gayeong! Don't worry, i will keep your promise, =)

You'll always be a special and wonderful friend to

MEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

*

So today i'm gonna get my posting results, kinda nervous about it,

i do hope i get posted to OCS, but i do not wish to speculate so much

since everytime i speculate, nothing of the sorts come out true.

So i'm preparing myself for the worst, yet hoping for the best.

But whatever the case is, OCS, SISPEC or Unit, i will do my best. =)

1 more hour to posting...damned, why did i wake up so early.....

(-_-)"

Well a piece of good news is that Loke got into OCS, happy for you

at least now you know u're on your way to becoming an Officer

*SALUTE*

=)

*

Overall i had a wonderful day yesterday, great afternoon, great dinner

and a great walk to top it all off =)

Sigh, i do hope to have more of such days ahead..will have to

book in on Monday....to my new camp. Thereafter, its more or less

little or no time for myself yet again.

I will miss everyone. =)

*

Will update about my posting later.

Till then, cheerios!!

Island life, Love it! Sentosa Days are wild and the nights

are Magic!!

Had a blasting good time with Reynn at Sentosa on Monday.

For me thsi trip to Sentosa is the result of 2 months of non-stop

wanting and non-stop craving. Everytime i'm on a route march,

i will fantasize about the sea, the sand, the sun, the sway palms,

the Crystal green waters, the big fluffy clouds,

the spectacular view from the beachfront.

*

here are some pics of that day. =)

We got into Sentosa Free cause we took the Shangri-La hotel
shuttle service ( not many people know about this ). Cheapos? Oh yes we are.
Lol

It felt good facing the sun for once

Beam me up Scotty!

Preparing for the leap

Flip by the deckside.

Yeehaw!!

This is hilarious....an otherwise perfect picture if not for the fact that i had
stumps for legs and am headless in the pic. lol

Exiting the crystal clear water....Its damn shiok jumping in. =D

The green waters of Sentosa Siloso beach is always a draw for me (quite literally)

Sentosa should hire us...lol.

Need i say more?

Cliff hanging in "Australia"...

Looks high? Not really, the rock was only 2.5 meters. Ahh, the magic of
perspective framing.

Cannot believe how much this place looks like Australia

The clear Green waters....ok..turqouise...

Reynn taking his share of UV radiation

Yes yes yes...a purely narcissitic photo...i know. Fine.-_-

Freedom at last.....

Reynn embracing eternity.....

A Bra line as result of BMT. -_-

The shadows of 2 great ones. =)

On the bus back ( now this bus IS free )

*

After that, had dinner at BK, then went down to Heeren with the initial

thought of watching a movie, hmm, ended up taking Neos lah.

We decided not to add those starry starry things or watsoeva cause we
felt the pictures were good wnough on their own. *sniggers*

Somehow my posture in the last frame made me look bloated. haha.

Others that we took

Hmm, a more classic looking one

My favourite one for reasons i need not elaborate on. Lol.

Somehow i cannot help but wonder how much this looks like a Sportswear Ad.
.

*

Oh well, call this an ego trip for me or narcissitic pleasure or wateva,

but the truth is, i'm not that narcissitic to the extent that i

take photos of myself and plaster them all over my room. Oh well, its hard to

think like me when people ain't me. But i do have my reasons lah. =P

I want people to enjoy the kind of happiness i display in my pictures. Haha.

Weird huh.

Oh well, this thurs gonna go Sentosa with Army buds,

so i expect more fun, sun and sea for me~!~!. Yay, i absolutely love

going to the beach, its free (well, almost), tranquil, fun in its own

way, but most importantly, its a place that i feel most comfortable in.

=)

*

Went on a Battlefield tour today organised by the SAF to inculcate

in us the need for NS, kinda enjoyable i should add, learning about the

past and all (not that i don't know any about it). Above all,

it only made my patriotism for my beloved land grow stronger. Yes, i'm a

Patriot. Frig, people do not see the need to be patriotic, they moan

and drag their feet while visiting the exhibits, but do they not realise that

though we may look into the past, we are actually looking into the future as well?

A famous saying goes,

"History is bound to repeat if it is treated with ignorance"

though i conceed i do not know the exact words but i do remember reading it

somewhere. But it is true! The only sole reason why we have NS now,

is because we're vigilant enough and wise enough to understand and realise

that if we take on an ignorant view on our past and choose to treat it as

a History lesson rather than a learning one, we're destined for doom,

not now, not tomorrow, not next year, but soon enough.

Ever heard of Exercise Malindo Darsasa 3AB? Search the net and u will realise.

It was then in 1991 when both Malaysia and Indonesia staged a massive tri-service

Military exercise that culmilated into a full scale, paratrooper

attack on a "supposed" threat at Kota Tinggi, Johor

just 18Km away from the Singapore shores. - get this, on our National Day '91

The Finale airdrop was codenamed "Pukul Habis"

which is literally Malay for Total wipeout.

But that isn't the point, the point is that this simulated attack on Johor

(Singapore no less) fell on our National Day.

For the first time in many years, the SAF mobilised all the services,

on the eve of National Day.

NSFs and NSmen were issued with live rounds in magazines,

i.e to say, many were ready to fight, just simply waiting for the greenlight.

Fighter jets were loaded with live missiles and began patroling the skies

over Singapore. Even more interestingly, by 00:00 on the 9th, SAF commandos

were already deployed onto the shores of M'sia.

This counter Mobilisation was codenamed, Operation Trojan.

So you see, the need for NS in Singapore is paramount.

Without it, our nation's security will be compromised. It is because of

NS and the basic fundamentals of it that has kept Singapore safe,

progressive and decidedly more prosperous than neighbouring countries.

I need to let it all go...again.

Isn't it obvious that i like you.

Yet you twirl me around your finger like a string.

Isn't it obvious that i want your company?

Yet you play me around like a fool.

Isn't it obvious that i'm always there for you?

Yet you only need me when you are lonely.

Perhaps i'm thinking too much, perhaps i'm paranoid.

But i am Human afterall.

You make me smile and laugh at the most unexpected of times.

Yet when i do, i feel bad inside. Happiness felt void, it felt temporary.

As of now, i've decided to let it all slide.

I cannot continue on like this, bad karma, bad logic, everything is bad.

I do not want to be the wedge, i do not want to be the fool.

I do not want to be the substitute.

i do not want to be "that guy"

I'm sorry, but I'll have to let it all go.....

as much as i do not want to.....

Again.

NOTE: DO NOT READ THIS POST UNLESS YOU HAVE READ THE PREVIOUS ONE!!

Highlights from the POP Parade

But before i begin, i need to shout out something....

I GOT MY MARKSMAN!!!!!!!!!!!

YAY, i'm a Marksman Recruit! And if i'm not wrong, i'm the Platoon best shot.

WOOT!

Out of 32 targets, i only missed 3, Ahahaha....YAY. Super happy.

And to add on to my jubilation, my Platoon Sergeant told me yesterday

that i as supposed to be the Platoon Best, but the only criterion that

prevented me from gettin it was because my fitness wasn't there.

But in terms of leadership, knowledge and skills, i'm one of the best

in the platoon. =) That really allayed all fears that i had in which

i thought i wouldn't be able to make it to OCS.

In addition, my PC also told me that my Leadership skills are

"Above average" that made me even happier hahaha..

Ok, back to the pics...
