Well its been more than a month since i started work at Recruit Express as a Recruitment Consultant. In a nutshell, i would have to admit that it is a rather interesting job. Definitely not one that is mundane and boring. it is fast, very changing and definitely requires lots of initiative.
It has not been without its ups and downs as well. Like for this week, i'm struggling to hit my performance i got for the last 2 weeks. In a way its due to diminishing candidate base as well as a diminishing job base as most Fresh Dip holders are either employed already or are no longer as interested to find jobs. Those Dip holders on vacation are also drying up as school is about to begin for most of them.
In a way this job allows me to take note of the ever changing job trends in Singapore and yes, though its been only 1 month i can surely say for sure what is the ONE skill that many companies are looking for in candidates. As long as you have that qualifications, you can go far in the corporate world. Being in this job has also taught me how irrelevant some courses in Polytechnics and local universities are. You may have a Dip or Deg in them, but to the corporate world, its a case of So What?? Quite sad if you ask me. That is why i seriously intend to take up a course or at least a module in that field to make myself more relevant next time when i graduate from Uni.

Today was a bad day, it started out bad enough and it ended off bad enough too. Though there were a couple of highs today, but generally, this whole week has been a bad bad bad bad week. But this job is definitely not without its challenges and i am one person who takes pride in overcoming in-your-face setbacks as i have had my fair share of it throughout my existence thus far. So i won't give up!!
But one thing i am sure i am grateful for is the understanding and support my dear has been showering me with. I am very happy that she feels proud of what i do and feels proud of my accomplishments so far. Darling, thank you! I Love you! *MUACKS*
As this month is out 1st yr anniversary month, it is a special month for the both of us and i hope it will last like this for time to come.

I'VE FOUND A JOB ALREADY!!
Well what do you know, immediately after i came back from HK, i found a job! Haha, I reached back Singapore on Saturday morning, went out with Dear on sunday then by Monday i had an interview with Recruit Express.
By Wednesday, i started work. With RECRUIT EXPRESS!
Haha, talk about fast service eh? I never thought that by registering with them i would actually eventually WORK for them. Anyway, my consultant (who happens to be my colleague now) inteviewed me on the week prior to my trip and suggested that i consider working for Recruit Express due to my personality and attitudes.

So i was totally ok with the job scope as it is definitely something that i look forward to. =) It is fast paced, challenging and works the brain to the max. you must be quick, eager and enthusiastic to do well in this job. Though i have just only started work, i've made helpful friends who is eager and willing to help me out in this job.
Monday i had an interview with my consultant's Team Leader, Mervin who is now my mentor. Then i was scheduled for another round of interview with the East Division's leader, Aaron (who is kinda.....:/). He passed me for the interview and told me rather matter-of-factly that i had to PROVE myself for a week before they can consider hiring me. I hope that i have been able to prove myself so far. =)
Yeap, so on wednesday i started work at Recruit Express as a Recruitment Consultant and by the end of the first day i was so burnt out by the things i had to learn and the things i had to do, my brain nearly exploded!
*
But hey, i guess i have more or less adapted well to the workign environment. I thrive in challenging environments and this job is proving itself to be one that i would enjoy doing! =)
So Friends and Friends of Friends of Friends out there. Even the lone stranger out there who happens to drop by my blog....

Some random pictures of Macau (Casinos....Casinos....Casinos....)
Just imagine, a small state the size of Ang Mo Kio has 25 full fledged Casinos....25!! Imagine that in AMK! And Singapore is only building 2. Lol....What a difference!

Macanese Casinos.....Singapore's night skyline is dominated by HDB flats and Office buildings...in Macau, it is Casinos. ALL The Buildings inside the pic are Casinos. FULL FLEDGED, MILLION DOLLAR MAKING ONES.

Casino Wynn.....Looks like LAS VEGAS right??

Fire-frickin-Crackers! ROLLS AND ROLLS of Them. Below is a HUGE GARGANTUOUS ROLL OF FIRE-Frickin-Crackers. That Roll alone will provide 5 mins of ear-shattering, gun powder exploding, smoke induced minutes of pure-firey mayhem. Haha. I SWEAR i have never SEEN SOO many firecrackers and FIREWORKS before. These are FULLY functional Fireworks tt you often see during NDP and such. They are Just as Beautiful and Bright! To the left of the picture, there is a Rocket-like tube. THAT is known as the Roman Candle and it is a Firework explosive. AKA Boom boom big Fire Flower kind. Haha. =D

My Cousin holding a Firework stick. You light this up (thru a fuse) and when ignited, it will shoot to the sky and explode. Producing a Fire Flower (yian hua). Haha

Fooling around in a public park along the river. Macau parks are full of them!

On the HydroFoil enroute to HK.
